So these aren’t as cheap as a Vizio and its low-priced brothers, but Sharp is starting to get competitive with its LCD pricing.

The company just announced three new TVs, all part of the SB series, starting at $1,400. The LC-52SB55U (52 1/32 inches), LC-46SB54U (45 63/64 inches) and LC-42SB45 (42 1/64 inches) each promise a full 1080p HD resolution inside a shiny black bezel.
“As the demand for high-definition home entertainment continues to rise, we are creating a wide range of reasonably-priced HDTVs that incorporate Sharp’s esteemed picture quality and renowned features,” said Bruce Tripido, associate VP of marketing for Sharp’s Entertainment Products Division. “The large-screen SB series of LCD TVs opens up the high-definition viewing experience to a wider audience, providing an affordable, yet high-quality option for consumers.”

Each one promises Sharp’s Spectral Contrast Engine, a pixel response time of 6ms, a PC input and an array of HDMI inputs.

The LC-52SB55U ($2,300) and the LC-46SB54U ($1,700) are available now. The LC-42SB45U ($1,400) is coming next month.
