SecondRun.tv App Takes Hulu to Media Center
SecondRun.tv will let you sort through web video within Media Center
A third-party app called SecondRun.tv will let you easily scroll through Hulu and other Internet videos within your Media Center setup.
We know you’re digging online TV these days. So to, apparently, is one particular Microsoft Windows Media Center user who’s crafted a particularly nifty app and posted it for public beta in The Green Button forums.
Poster and developer Yaggs calls his app SecondRun.tv, and it aggregates and presents content from Hulu and other web video sites (like those straight from broadcasting companies).
You get to scroll through the videos (he used “Fox TV Shows” as a mere tag holder, since obviously his demo includes vids from NBC, CBS and others) by seeing artwork/images above a brief description of the episode. The images to be used seems to be a work in progress (and as one of the commenters noted, a feed that alerts you to new episodes might be a nice bonus), but the developer says the app is already motoring.
From Yaggs in his post: “These are not just mockup screens… you can navigate the show posters click into them and browse episodes and start them… right now it is almost usable… its just a big list of shows… hopefully tomorrow I should be able to get the “Network” menu done and be close to getting out the first build for people to start messing with!
“I will probably be putting some time into getting a little website up and running for this tomorrow… I already have my new domain secondrun.tv registered (did that today) and should have some time tomorrow to get at least a little blog setup!”
So you can check out the working model with his video demo or hop on the website. Gizmodo notes that there’s no word on a release date or how it works with Media Center extenders, though Yaggs has offered that he has two Xbox 360s in his house, so look for it to play well with those.
