This week is the annual CEDIA Expo, so we should be seeing a lot of shiny new products. Savant Systems is getting a jump on the flood of announcements, by debuting new items across three product categories.

All six of the new products are designed for multiroom media distribution. The lineup includes three video distribution systems (8x8, 8x6, 8x4), an audio distribution system (32x20), and two HDBaseT receivers.

First up, we have a trio of SmartLink HDMI matrix video switches. Each one features HDBaseT 5Play technology, which helps cut down on installation time and costs. That’s because these devices use a single CAT5e/6 cable to deliver uncompressed high-def video, audio, control and power—across 100 meters of cable. All three of the new products are designed to work in conjunction with iOS devices that have Savant’s TrueControl apps. Each one also has an open control protocol to make upgrades easier.

The two new HDBase T Receivers can put the full HDBaseT 5Play complement in any room, delivering video, audio, control, power and Ethernet all over a single Cat5e/6 cable. The two options include an in-wall solution and a stand-alone module designed for wall-mounting behind an HDTV.

Finally, Savant is introducing the lone SmartAudio SSA-3220 32x20 switch. Despite the slender 2U rack-mountable design, the SSA-3220 has 16 analog and 16 digital selectable inputs and 20 outputs (16 analog plus four S/PDIF) for passing analog line-level audio to an external amplifier. Other features include analog and digital audio conversion capabilities, as well as control of volume, balance, and a seven-band equalizer (EQ) per zone of analog and digital audio.

“Our new distribution systems provide integrators with a tremendous range of options to meet client’s needs across a broad range of system sizes and configurations,” said Savant EVP Jim Carroll. “Coupled with our Wi-Fi Lighting and Savant Universal Remote technologies, these systems enable integrators to improve operational efficiencies in ways not possible before.”

Savant says that each of its new media distribution products will start selling sometime in October 2013. Contact your local Savant dealer for pricing and additional information.
