Sanus Takes the Wall Out of Wall Mount
The rise of the flat panel TV was accompanied by another phenomena: the placement debate. Should you put your plasma or LCD TV on the wall or on a table? They look great mounted on the wall and don’t take up valuable floor space. Plus it’s easier to vacuum under them. But wall-mounting requires tools, drilling and some amount of knowhow—or it requires professional help (which we’re all for).
Sanus and other companies have come up with some hybrid solutions which offer the best of both worlds. The latest offering from Sanus just started shipping this week in the form of its Foundations Basic Series furniture and No-Drill TV Mount Kit.
The Foundations Basic Series includes a table model (BFAV344) with two lower glass shelves and a three-shelf model (BFAV550) with a back pedestal. The former features a high-gloss black lacquered finish while the latter includes hardwood veneers in chestnut or chocolate. Both include handy cable management to offer a neat appearance, and both can accommodate TVs up to 125 pounds on their top shelves.
The No-Drill TV Mount Kit isn’t a roll of super-strong double-sided tape. It’s an attachment to either Basic system which allows you to mount the TV flat against the wall without actually attaching it to the wall. The FMK056 kit can tilt 12 degrees and swivel 30 degrees, allowing for flexible viewing.
