Sandbox Offers Security That’s Simple but Smart
The Cube serves as the hub.
The system includes sensors, alerts and notifications, audio and video, and more.
We’ve seen a lot of easy DIY security options over the last few months. There are cameras, sensors and even lighting products designed to help protect your home. However, there still aren’t too many all-in-one security systems specfically designed for the do-it-yourselfer. Get ready to play around with Sandbox.
Sandbox aims to be a comprehensive home security and surveillance system, with wireless connectivity, sensors, video, cloud access, notifications, and much more.
The main component is the Cube, which serves as the system’s hub. It has support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as a rechargeable battery for a little back-up. The Owl is a compact high-def camera, which can sync with the Cube or your wireless router. Other items include the D2 combination doorbell/camera, Patches (sensors), and the RAD touchscreen.
Of course, all of the Sandbox pieces will play nicely with any smartphone or web browser, allowing users to peek in and even take action!
To attract early adopters, Sandbox has launched an Indiegogo campaign, which will run through August 7, 2014. Backers can score a “Charter” Sandbox package for $95, which is almost $25 off the retail price. Other packages are also available. Once the campaign ends, the first products are expected to ship in February 2015. Also worth mentioning is that once you do receive your Sandbox and hook it up, you can expect to pay around $9.95 per month for the service, depending on your number of cameras and/or sensors.
