Sam’s Club Sells Solar

Sam’s Club will roll out its Home Efficiency Center in nine Southern California stores.

While shopping for large goods, you can actually learn how to conserve.

You can stock up on 50 servings of Frosted Flakes, get a gallon of ketchup, and save a few bucks on energy—all at Sam’s Club.

The company just announced the Home Efficiency Center, which will open in nine Southern California Sam’s Club stores. The new offering will showcase things like energy efficiency and water conservation, and will also sell eco-friendly products. Expect to find items like a low-flow toilet for $99 and a motion-activated lighting for $50.

The product line will also include Borrego Solar Systems, a provider of photovoltaic solar panels. Borrego will have kiosks in each of those nine locations.

“By providing these informational kiosks in these regional locations, Sam’s Club is demonstrating exceptional leadership in bringing solar energy to the masses,” said Aaron Hall, Borrego’s CEO. “We applaud Sam’s Club for its introduction of its Home Efficiency Centers, and we are honored to be a part of the company’s forward-thinking position on renewable energy.”

In addition, the company will set up live video chats so that shoppers can ask appliance manufacturers’ reps about their purchases.

Participating stores include Sam’s Club locations in Corona, Murrieta, Glendora, Ontario, La Habra, Chino, Long Beach, Fountain Valley and Torrance.
