The CEDIA Expo may have shut its doors earlier this week, but that’s not stopping companies from introducing new products. Rotel is setting its selection apart by waiting until after the trade show insanity has faded.
The first of four new products is the RDD-1580, the company’s very first USB Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC). Designed for both PC sources and the latest digital file formats, the RDD-1580 promises the best audio reproduction possible, thanks to two of Wolfson’s WM8740 stereo DACs. Other features include a front-panel USB input, Bluetooth streaming (via the included adapter), and a rear-panel PC/USB input to support files up to 24-bit/192kHz in asynchronous mode. It also has two sets of RCA-style coaxial and TOSlink optical digital inputs and a toroidal transformer, all packed inside a full-size 1U chassis.
Available in matte black or a brushed silver finish, the RDD-1580 will start selling in November with an MSRP of $799.
Next in the new line is the RC-1570, a new stereo preamplifier with an on-board DAC. This component combines a large toroidal transformer and regulated power supply with four digital inputs (two coax and two optical) and a PC/USB input on the rear panel. Those digital inputs are designed for set-top boxes, HDTVs and Blu-ray players, with the PC/USB input ready to tackle digital content.
Other features include a Wolfson stereo DAC, analog inputs with balanced XLR connectors, four pairs of RCA inputs, a moving magnet phono-stage, XLR and single-ended outputs, two 12-volt triggers, and an RS-232 option. The preamp also comes with a Bluetooth dongle designed for use with the front USB input.
Also available in matte black or a brushed silver finish, the RC-1570 will start selling this month with an MSRP of $999.
The last in Rotel’s new line is actually a pair of power amplifiers. The RB-1582MKI boasts 200 watts per channel and a large toroidal transformer combined with a total of 60,000uF storage capacity. The output stage is a discrete design that consists of 10 high-current bipolar transistors per channel. Input options consist of both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors. This is shipping now in matte black or brushed silver, with an MSRP of $1,599.
Finally, the RB-1552MKII is a class A/B amplifier that offers 120 watts per channel. It also has left and right power rectification stages and decoupling, in a mono block design. Input options are balanced XLR or unbalanced RCA connectors. Like all of the components mentioned above, the RB-1552MKII is available in matte black or with a brushed silver finish. It’s shipping now, with a $999 price tag.
