Quirky + GE Aros Smart Air Conditioner Is Available for Pre-Order
The window AC unit has learning features and options for app-based control.
Is there anything you can’t control with your smartphone? Not according to Quirky and GE. The same people that brought you the smart egg tray now have something a little more useful—at least to people not that into eggs.
The latest part of the Quirky + GE collection is the Aros Smart Window Air Conditioner. The new product features 8,000 BTUs of cooling goodness, all of which can be controlled almost anywhere, using the free Wink app for iOS and Android devices.
It’s also smarter than the average smart appliance, since it can actually learn all about your budget, location, schedule, and usage, and adjust the temperature accordingly. It can even turn on and off based on your location and GPS settings. Other features include three cooling modes, three fan speeds, and retractable wings for a perfect fit in your window.
Some of those learning features are very similar to the Nest thermostat, but this is certainly a nice option for people without central air.
Quirky is currently taking pre-orders for the Aros Smart Window Air Conditioner through Amazon. At last peek, it was priced at $300 and should start shipping right before summer kicks in, sometime in early May.
