We’re taking a break from the continuous stream of iPhone app news we hear to give a little media tidbit on the other heavy-hitter smartphone out there, the BlackBerry.

BlackBerry users will be able to watch full-length episodes of TV shows on-demand coming in May, for a monthly subscription fee.

The service is being provided by QuickPlay Media, which announced its launch of PrimeTime2Go mobile TV service that will be offered in the U.S. on the BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Curve 8900 devices (currently available to AT&T and T-Mobile subscribers).

You’ll be able to download your on-demand programs in the background while you use the device for other things, and then you can view the episodes until the pre-determined viewing period expires. Downloads will go over Wi-Fi so not to factor into your data usage accounts.

If you can’t finish an episode in one sitting, you’ll be able to pause and pick it up later where you left off; plus, you can watch the shows offline as well.

At the launch, QuickPlay pointed to shows like “The Office,” “CSI,” “The Hills,” and “90210” (the new version) among the many shows available. QuickPlay noted more cable and broadcast content will be added, as well as service to other BlackBerry phones. You can even get full season passes automatically downloaded to the phone just after original episode air dates.

The service will roll out in early May, at $7.99 per month to subscribers, and the app can be found and downloaded from the BlackBerry App World store.
