Q. My housekeeper used a cleaning solution on my Sony TV (Wega KV-34HS420) and the protective coating has been removed. Can this be repaired? - Rich, CA
A. It may not have been your housekeeper’s fault. This particular model had problems with the coating coming off from a microfiber cloth and water. Soon after the model’s release, Sony stopped offering that TV with the coating. If you would like to get this repaired, find a Sony authorized repair shop and see if they will service it. It might not be cost effective though. I’m willing to guess it would cost more than what you paid for the TV. You may be better off removing all the anti-glare coating, which will take a lot of patience and elbow grease. Or maybe it’s just time to upgrade to a new flat panel.
