The combination of anamorphic lens projection for video and JBL Synthesis and Anthem electronics for audio make this theater finely tuned.

This is just one room in a house full of audio and video. But with a sweet 2.35 projection setup and rockin’ surround sound, it’s certainly the destination room for movie and sports nights.

The theater construction was part of a whole-home audio and video distribution system installed by Florida-based Media Design Associates, which employed Crestron’s PVID Video Distribution System and Adagio Audio Distribution System at the core to route the A/V.

“The house was designed with a clean contemporary look, therefore it was important to the clients that the audio video equipment blended into that,” says MDA’s Joann Zarick “They absolutely wanted the latest technology and also wanted the electronic components out of view.”

That led to the installation of several clean-looking flat panels in the home, as well as this clutter-free dedicated home theater. Components are out of the way, allowing viewers to soak in the decor, which includes a fiber-optic star ceiling above an elegant soffit, and the big Stewart Filmscreen super-wide 2.35:1 aspect ratio screen.

Multiple sources, including a Kaleidescape Audio and Video Server and Sony Blu-ray player, can be accessed for movies. A JVC projector and Panamorph anamorphic lens kit help deliver the super-wide CinemaScope images to fill the entire screen without the top and bottom black bars on 2.35:1 movies.

For the audio, an already high-performance JBL Synthesis Array surround-sound system was given a state-of-the-art processing boost as MDA used Anthem’s D2 surround processor and Arc2 equalization/calibration kit to fine tune the JBL speakers to perfection.

Two racks of equipment are hidden from view in a central equipment room, while the homeowners can control every aspect of their system with Crestron and RTI remote controls.
