Panasonic Now Streaming Netflix via Viera Cast
Web-enabled TVs and Blu-ray players from Panasonic feature another streaming video option with the addition of Netflix.
In case you didn’t think there were any products left for Netflix to conquer, you were wrong. Add Panasonic to the growing count of devices capable of streaming from the video rental giant.
Panasonic announced yesterday that it will add Netflix Watch Instantly streaming functionality to its 2010 HDTV and Blu-ray player lineup via the company’s Viera Cast IPTV service.
The more the merrier for Viera Cast products—now you can get Netflix, YouTube, Amazon VOD, Google Picasa photo album, Twitter, Pandora, national weather, and Bloomberg News. If that’s not enough for you, stream video of yourself to a friend, because Panasonic already featured Skype calling.
Plus there’s that whole 3D thing, which you can get through Panny’s VT25, VT20 and GT25 series plasma TVs and DMP-BDT 100, BDT300 and BDT350 Blu-ray players.
No, there’s no 3D streaming from Netflix yet—and there’s only a fraction of it’s entire video library through the Watch Instantly service—but who knows what the future will bring? A couple of years ago, who knew streaming and 3D would be a common TV feature as it is?
