Having a home theater’s great, but it can be even better if you’re actually getting to watch the film as it was presented in the real theater. That means no back bars on the top and bottom of the screen.

The latest in the projector category to do this is Panamorph and its UH380 Anamorphic Horizontal Expansion lens with its front projection system. The UH380 lens converts native 16:9 projectors to the full 2.35:1 aspect ratio of more than 70 percent of all major motion pictures, the company says.

The UH380 is a high performance, patented, anamorphic add-on lens installed in front of digital projectors. It transforms the projector into the wider aspect ratio with the help of appropriate electronic scaling and a 2.35:1 projection screen.

The new lens system uses a 100-percent glass fully coated optical design that is corrected for astigmatism and chromatic aberration, Panamorph says, and also offers pixel level resolution beyond 1080p. The UH380 lens is now shipping at an MSRP of $2,995. An optional M380 motorized transport is also available for systems where moving the lens out of the beam path is desired, for an MSRP of $2,995.

Panamorph offers the P380-2 Universal Mounting Plate that attaches the lens and/or motorized sled to a many of today’s popular projectors for $495 MSRP. Visit www.panamorph.com for more info.
