Deals of the Week: Onkyo Receiver, InFocus 1080p Projector & More
Electronic House scours the web to round up the sweetest tech deals each week.*
We’re always on the lookout for great deals on A/V for your home. Televisions, projectors, screens, receivers, speakers ... if you’re trying to put together a media room, home theater or other A/V system why not try to save a few bucks here (especially if you want to spend a few more bucks there)?
And we’ll try to cover something from a variety of categories. Here are some sweet discounts we found this week:
Onkyo TX-SR607 A/V receiver: Amazon has this beefy receiver marked down to $494 (from $599), but if you go through to the end of the checkout procedure you’ll notice that the price drops even further—to a tidy $419.90 (hit the Free Super Saver shipping button so shipping costs go away). Not bad for a receiver that gives you 7.2 surround, includes the latest Dolby PLIIz “height” speaker application, lossless Blu-ray audio decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, and Faroudja DCDI Edge video processing.
InFocus X10 DLP front projector: Tiger Direct has this full 1080p projector at an eye-popping $1,199 (not including shipping), that’s $100 down from its usual price—one that hovers from $800 to $1,000 off of what most online retailers are offering it. We can’t think of another projector we’ve seen this low for native 1920 x 1080 high-def resolution (which usually starts from $1,500 with some Sanyo and Mitsubishi entries), plus you get the DLP chipset, 1200 lumens brightness, and contrast that can go from 2500:1 to 7500:1 with expanding iris function.
Logitech Z Cinema Advanced USB Surround System: Well, that’s a long name for a 2.1 computer speaker system, but we like Tiger Direct’s deal on this cool-looking and big-sounding system for those who want a bump in their desktop audio for $59.99 (before shipping, down from $299). You get 180 watts of power, an 8-inch subwoofer, a Windows Media Center remote control, 3.5-mm auxiliary jack for an MP3 player, and USB connection to hook up.
Panasonic TC-L32X1 32-inch Viera LCD TV: Not everyone can fit a 50-inch flat-panel in their living rooms, and these days a 32-incher will suit many secondary rooms perfectly. Newegg has a deal on this Panasonic model that you can snag for $499 and free shipping (down from Newegg’s $649 listing, though Panasonic has it at $599 on its own website). No, it’s not 1080p, but 720p high-def should be just fine for 32 inches, plus you’re getting a reliable name brand at a nice price for this screen size. A sweet feature that isn’t played up on Newegg’s listing is the included iPod dock, so you can scroll audio and video on your TV with its remote control; also Viera Image Viewer lets you pop in a memory card for easy photo viewing.
Bell’O SFP-9901HG Color Accented Flat Panel Audio Video System: If you don’t want a full wall-mount TV installation but still would like your flat-panel TV off a stand and associated electronics streamlined, the Amazon outlet deal—$250, down from $399, free shipping—on this Bell’O system could be for you. It’ll hold a flat panel up to 58 inches, with two shelves for A/V gear and/or speakers, with cable management for a neat and tidy look without having to cut into your wall.
