NuVo Wireless Audio System Can Do 16 Streams at Once
The new wireless system has dual-band WiFi and MIMO technologies.
Back in 2011, NuVo Technologies decided to ditch wireless audio. Now, the company seems to have had a change of heart.
The company just introduced the NuVo Wireless Audio System, which combines dual-band WiFi and MIMO to transmit up to 16 audio streams at once. And it can do that at 600KB per second, says NuVo.
Designed to hook to your home network, the NuVo system can tap into music stored in iTunes and Windows Media. It can even stream services such as Pandroa, Rhapsody and SiriusXM. (Just remember that some subscriptions and/or fees may apply, depending on the service.)
The NuVo Wireless Audio System includes three components: the two music players (P200 and P100) and a network gateway (GW100). Listeners can use a smartphone or tablet to control the units, via NuVo’s free iOS and Android apps.
Other features include support for up to 16 separate listening zones. aptX Bluetooth technology, and gold 5-way binding posts for connecting to stereo speakers. The P200 boasts 60 watts of power per channel, with the P100 doing 20 watts per channel (2 channels @8 ohms).
“Consumers will love the fast, easy set-up, the truly outstanding audio quality, and the ability to access all their music sources,” said David Rodarte, NuVo’s VP and general manager. “Not everyone will want to set up our Wireless Audio System themselves, but the fact is just about anyone can. For those who want professional installation, there’s no better choice to do this than an authorized NuVo dealer.”
That setup process involves downloading the app, connecting the GW100 Gateway to a router and following the app’s three-step on-screen wizard.
NuVo plans to sell the NuVo Wireless Audio System through Smarthome and Parts Express. The P200 will sell for $599, with the P100 priced at $479. The GW100 will also be sold separately, with an MSRP of $199.
