NuVo Adds Android Control for Music Port Audio Systems
Free app controls source for Concerto, Essentia, Renovia whole-home systems.
Not everyone wields an iPhone. Android phones have become increasingly popular too, and the Google Play Store is steadily being stuffed with apps for you to control your home’s electronics systems.
The latest comes from NuVo Technologies, which had already released an Android app for its latest whole-home distributed music system, the Wireless Music System (which we reviewed earlier this year).
Now, if you happen to own a legacy wired music system from NuVo and use the company’s Music Port or Music Port Elite as a source for it, you’ll be able to control that as well using your Android phone or tablet by downloading the free Music Port (Beta) app.
That’s great news for the many owners of NuVo’s multizone Concerto, Essentia and Renovia audio systems being fed by the four-stream Music Port source, which slings around the house AM/FM radio, docked iPod tunes, internally stored music, home-networked music files and web radio services such as Pandora, TuneIn, Rhapsody and Sirius XM. (Read a review of NuVo’s powerline-based Renovia system here.)
The app lets you easily select music and control all of the connected zones, adjust volume, add tunes to your queue, view album art, add Pandora stations and more from the Android mobile device.
