We’ve seen Android in a set-top box before, with Google TV. Yeah, that didn’t exactly set the world on fire. However, wait until you see what Nixeus does with that power.
The Nixeus Fusion XS Network Media Player takes on all of your movies, photos and music using Android 2.2, the Marvell 88DE3010 dual-core processor and Qdeo video/image post processing. The system also promises video playback up to 1080p.
Add it to your home network, and the Nixeus Fusion XS allows you to surf the web from your couch and even call up content from other connected computers and hard drive devices. It also welcomes third-party software companies and Android apps to join the party.
Promising plenty of file format support, the Nixeus Fusion XS also features pass-through support for Dolby True HD and DTS HD.
“The Nixeus Fusion HD was so well-received as our premier multimedia player, we’re really looking forward to introducing the next product in our lineup,” stated Tony Diep, Nixeus Technology’s VP of sales and marketing. “By incorporating the award-winning Marvell ARMADA 1000 chipset and Android OS into the Fusion XS, we’re confident the entertainment experience will be enhanced like never before.”
The Nixeus Fusion XS is available now at Amazon, as well as NCIX.com and through D&H Distributing. Expect to see it listed with an MSRP of $169.99.
