Michley Tivax certainly has an interesting product portfolio, who since the early 90s has been putting out everything from set-top boxes to the Lil’ Sew & Sew sewing machine. However, what’s made us take notice is the fact Tivax just jumped head first into the 3D space, launching not one, but TWO, self-claimed 3D firsts.

For starters, there’s the seven inch MiTV3D7 portable glasses-free 3DTV, which sports an 800x480 resolution and 40 degree viewing angle. Interestingly enough, the press release says it allows the viewer to watch 2D programming in 3D, but says nothing about actually watching native 3D programming. We’ve got a note out to their PR contact to find out.

Their 2nd “first” is the MiTV-3D-C201 tuner dongle, which gives PC users the ability to receive and watch 3D and converted 2D programming on a PC (provided that PC has 3D capabilities). According to Tivax the image quality is as good as regular 3DTVs, but they probably wouldn’t tell you otherwise.

UPDATE: I heard back from Tivax, and rest assured it plays both upconverted 2D as well as native 3D material.
