If you’re anywhere near Vegas, you know it can loud—this week, especially. The 2013 International Consumer Electronics Show is in full swing, with tons of manufacturers looking to make noise about 2013 products. Some make better noises than others, though.

Meridian Audio just introduced its new DSP640 Digital Active In-wall Loudspeaker. The speaker is part of a demo that includes the DSP520 and DSW500 subwoofer.

The speaker features a DSP design, which promises to belt out sound equivalent to a speaker eight times this size. That enclosure is nice and slim, making it perfect for an in-wall installation. It also has the drivers mounted into the front extrusion of the enclosure, with a separate upper case to hold the DSP, digital audio converters and the amplifier for each driver.

Designed to mount horizontally or vertically, other features include Meridian’s Wide Range Driver technology, a back-box and frame system, and a unique DSP setting so the unit can be mounted behind fabric or even a projection screen.

All of Meridian’s DSP in-wall speakers are designed to make it easy to add a zone. Just mount the Media Source 200 on the back of the speakers, and it can be operated from any Digital Media System controller, such as the Core Control App for iPad.

Meridian will start selling the DSP520 this month, with an MSRP of $5,000 each. The DSP640 will follow in Feburary, priced at $7,500 each. Meridian will be in Vegas all week hosting that demo in the Venetian. The 2013 International CES runs from January 8-11, 2013.
