Episodes I, II and III in the Star Wars saga might not have been able to live up to the classics of two decades earlier, but you gotta admit that ‘Revenge of the Sith’ was a pretty rockin’ way to ‘conclude’ the new trilogy. And now, for those who had been wondering where it went between ‘Sith’ and the original Episode IV, you’ll have the chance to play it out for yourself.

LucasArts’ ‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’ hits shelves tomorrow (Tuesday, Sept. 16), for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. It’s story is supposed to be somewhat of a bridge between Episodes III and IV, when the Jedis get whacked and how Vader rises to power.

In a nutshell, you go from being Vader himself to then taking controls as his secret apprentice helping Vader kill off more Jedis and rule the universe.

The launch kicks off in San Francisco tonight, with a party that includes guests such as Sam Witwer, who plays the apprentice in the game, and Adrienne Wilkinson, who plays a dark and mysterious Jedi, as well as game designers and engineers.

As for the game itself, at least a couple of reviews—on and Wired magazine—were less than impressed. CVG gave the game a 7.6 out of 10, noting that its storytelling and movie renderings are phenomenal but the action can be tedious and less than thrilling at times, and Wired thought the action was kinda boring as well.

Apart from the action, we’d say that judging from the screenshots, the visuals look absolutely stunning, and we’re guessing the audio isn’t too shabby either.

Let us know what you think after you’ve had a chance to knock off a few Jedis yourself.
