Leviton Debuts OmniTouch 7 Touchscreen
The company's new control option can handle security, energy and entertainment settings.
There are several ways to control devices around your house, but who doesn’t appreciate a shiny, new touchscreen? Leviton just announced its latest, the OmniTouch 7.
The new capacitive touch, glass front touchscreen has a 7-inch high-res screen, which can tap into security, energy and entertainment settings all around the house. It’s also super easy, thanks to large, recognizable icons and slider bars.
It may seem simple, but definitely offers up some very complex control options. For instance, users can adjust lighting levels from 0 to 100 percent, control up to 64 thermostats, and adjust multiple window coverings. The OmniTouch 7 also serves as an interface for Leviton’s Hi-Fi 2 Distributed Audio System or a little something from one of the company’s partners.
Other features include a new interface engine, high processing power, digital MEMS microphones with a built-in amplifier, and a built-in speaker with noise and echo cancellation. It even has a light sensor for automatic dimming of the display’s backlight.
“The user-friendly OmniTouch 7 allows for a simple setup and intuitive customization for integrators,” said Jay McLellan, president of Leviton Security & Automation. “The new always-there, always-on Touchscreen is plug-and-play, but affords users a variety of options, including showing only necessary icons, the ability to name the building and rooms, separate devices by area, and quickly adjust settings like brightness and volume levels.”
The OmniTouch 7 is the company’s seventh-generation touchscreen, which builds on the success of 2003’s original OmniTouch. Available in black and white, the Leviton OmniTouch 7 Touchscreen is available now with an MSRP of $699.95.
