Legrand Offers New Coax and Powerline Networking Solutions

Adding networking into the home isn’t always easy in a retrofit situation. Legrand is hoping to ease the pain (and the expense) involved, with a series of new coax and powerline networking solutions. The new options are now available.
First up is the Four-Port Coax Network Adapter. Designed for almost any residence that has coaxial cable in place for cable TV use, this product allows integrators to tap into that coax wiring system for home networking use. It also has MoCA (Multimedia over Coaxial Alliance), which can stream HD content at up to 170Mbps, all without interfering with cable and broadcast TV signals.
Attach this slim product to any coax connector and it will deliver a MoCA 1.1-compliant high-speed network connection to as many as four networked devices. That means you can hook up a web-enabled HDTV, as well as a Blu-ray player, a gaming system, a computer, and more—using just one coax cable.
If coax isn’t available, Legrand also has the Four-Port Powerline Network Adapter. Using your home’s existing powerlines, this device can deliver a 500Mbps connection to up to four devices. Two adapters are needed to create a network, but others can be added in to expand connectivity throughout the home. Legrand also plans to offer a Single Port Powerline Adapter sometime in the second quarter of 2013.
Legrand also has the new Coax Network Signal Blocker for isolating the signal inside the home; the Single-Port Digital Cable Amplifier with Coax Network Support for boosting RF signals; and three Digital Cable Splitters with Coax Network Support, all of which provide 6kV surge protection on all ports. That lineup of splitters includes the Two-Way Digital Cable Splitter with Coax Network Support, the Three-Way Digital Cable Splitter with Coax Network Support, and the Four-Way Digital Cable Splitter with Coax Network Support.
