Kwikset Puts Home Connect into SmartCode 914 Deadbolt
The latest smart lock has a 10-digit keypad and SmartKey re-key technology.
Late last month, we were talking about how something as simple as a lock could make your home a lot smarter. One of the companies on our list is now giving you another high-tech way to get in and out of the house.
Kwikset just introduced the SmartCode 914 Deadbolt with Home Connect technology. This lock is an upgraded version of the SmartCode deadbolt, promising a new design and new capabilities.
The SmartCode 914 promises a new exterior style, a reduced interior size, and a redesigned quiet-drive locking system. Other features include a 10-digit backlit keypad, a dedicated lock button, and a Master Lock option. It also includes BHMA Grade 2 and UL certifications.
Kwikset has also included SmartKey re-key technology with this lock. This allows users to re-key locks in seconds, all without tools or having to remove the lock form the door.
Of course, a key feature for the Electronic House is that Home Connect technology, which allows the lock to be integrated into home security and automation systems. That means that each one has the wireless support to communicate with security systems and home entertainment systems. Home Connect is accessible via most smartphones and tablets.
“By continuously listening to our consumers’ residential style preferences, we are able to deliver market-leading electronic locks that provide all of the industry-leading access control, security and convenience features, while delivering the aesthetics that today’s homeowners demand,” said Keith Brandon, Kwikset’s director of residential access solutions. “Specifically, the smaller footprint of the new SmartCode deadbolt is a direct result of customer feedback through a variety of sources, including direct communications and focus groups.”
Kwikset is selling SmartCode deadbolts now, in a variety of finishes and styles. It’s priced at $199.
