Keecker the Robot Packs In AV and Security
The Paris-based company will start selling the connected robot in Q4 of 2014.
We’ve seen robots that can clean the floor, robots that can clean the litter box, and robots that can be your buddy. However, a company named Keecker has introduced a connected robot that will combine AV and security with several web features.
Keecker is the name of the Paris-based company behind Keecker, the product. The company’s creation is a robot that you can control with iOS and Android smartphones, as well as through a web browser.
Using one of those web-enabled devices, you can maneuver Keecker throughout the home, all while projecting video and/or images onto the walls. The robot can display family photos and videos. However, because it has the power to connect to your Wi-Fi network, it can also tap into services such as Netflix and YouTube.
Of course, Keecker doesn’t just give. It can also take all sorts of data from around your home. Users can peek in remotely using Keecker’s two-way AV features, as well as check the status of things like temperature, humidity, sound and light levels, CO2 levels, and more.
Keecker has a 1TB hard drive for storing movies, songs, photos, and much more. It can also play most Android apps, as long as you can download them from the Google Play Store. Sorry iOS fans, but Keecker’s founder is Pierre Lebeau, who used to work for Google—so they needed to save a little something exclusive for those users.
Other features on the projector include a 1,280 x 8000 resolution, 1,000 lumens of brightness, and a lamp life of about 20,000 hours.
Measuring just 16-by-25 inches, Keecker will sell for somewhere between $4,000 and $5,000. Right now, the Keecker prototype is white, but you should be able to choose other colors when it becomes available in the fourth quarter of this year.
