Karim Rashid: You’ve designed products for everyone from Dirt Devil to Prada—where do you go next?

Olive says they’ve nabbed the big-time designed for its Opus Nº5 Karim Rashid Spring ‘08 Edition. The Olive Opus is a neat machine, and this is a nice gimmick for the audio enthusiast who wishes to distinguish themselves from the sea of silver and black boxes.

“Music has always been an essential emotional source of design inspiration for me. It is a beautiful phenomenon that I can put my 22,00 CDs in this micro architecture at full digital one-to-one” Karim adds. It’s a nifty device, but we’re guessing that he got a free one.

Other features include a matched pair of TIʼs 24-bit 192 kHz DAC modules (PCM1794A) for the inverted and non-inverted signals on each of the right and left channels. Olive also says that the unit has a signal-to-noise ratio of more than 123dB.

Each of Olive’s new boxes is currently available for preorder. View the slideshow to see the various models; $4,000 will get you any one of the four funky designs.
