JVC Announces New D-ILA Projector

The DLA-RS1 provides a blockbuster picture at matinee prices.

The only way that the JVC DLA-RS1 could provide a more realistic theater experience is if you threw sticky stuff on the floor and got your friends to come in and make cell calls during movies.

JVC says its D-ILA (Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier) chip technology has a 3-panel design, which eliminates the mechanical spinning color separation wheel and “rainbow” effects found in competing technologies. Each of those chips has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080, allowing for full 1080p high-def in all its glory.

The stat that makes my eyes pop is the 15,000:1 native contrast ratio—that’s one crystal-clear picture.

Other highlights include a 16:9 aspect ratio, and HDMI, composite and S-Video inputs.
