Sci-fi fans: Prepare to start salivating.

We just found Serenity on Blu-ray on Amazon for just $7.99. This is the 2-disc set, which lists for $14.98. Not only will you save 47 percent, but Amazon is even offering to ship it for free.

Serenity is from the mind of Joss Whedon, the same guy who brought us Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Avengers. This film picks up after the events of Firefly —the show that Fox cancelled in 2002. Yes, it’s also the same one that went on to be a cult favorite (of course).

Nathan Fillion stars as Captain Malcolm Reynolds, who resorts to a little smuggling after losing out on the galactic civil war. The action seems to pick up (literally) after two passengers board the ship, with a lot of unwanted baggage. The film also stars Gina Torres, Alan Tudyk, Morena Baccarin, Summer Glau, and Adam Baldwin.

The Blu-ray comes packing a boatload (ship-load?) of extras, including visual and audio commentaries, deleted and extended scenes, and plenty of peeks behind the scenes. The package also includes a standard-def DVD and Digital Copy of the movie.

For Serenity and Firefly fans, this deal may be good enough to snag a backup copy—or maybe even a good opportunity to convert a friend or family member. There’s no word on how long the deal will last, so don’t be surprised if they sell out soon.
