Want a whole lot of fun—for under 50K? You don't need to have a special key to Fort Knox to enjoy a great home theater. Take a look at these home theaters and start planning yours!
Gold Winner: Whole Lot of Fun As a custom home builder, Doug Cull knows the value of a house made for entertaining, so when he embarked on building this $2.4 million, 7,000-square-foot spec home outside of Cincinnati, he knew he had to offer some spiffy built-in home entertainment systems. That meant a whole-house audio system, a “pub room” complete with music and a plasma screen for entertaining friends, and, of course, a really nice home theater.
Silver Winner: The Big Bang No one owns this award-winning theater yet, but it’s more than ready to please even the most discriminating audio and video enthusiast. Tried-and-true components and systems were used to ensure that no matter how long it took to sell this seven-figure spec home, the electronics would still be some of the best on the market.
Bronze Winner: Livin’ in Paradise Cinema Paradiso is a story about one man’s love affair with film. It also happens to be the favorite movie of the owners of this award-winning theater. In fact, they like the movie so much, that they used in as inspiration when designing the space that would hold their grand home entertainment system. In keeping with the style of the movie, the aesthetic goals were to create a simple, elegant, timeless theater that is formal yet very comfortable.
