HAI Multiroom Audio System Ideal for Condos, Townhouses
Four-Source, zour-Zone audio distribution system suits smaller homes.
If you live in a townhouse or condo and seek a small audio distribution system for just a few rooms, HAI by Leviton may have the answer.
The company recently showed off a new 4x4 (four-source, four-zone) version of its Hi-Fi 2 (8x8) distributed audio system that connects to remote sources throughout a home.
The system delivers 20 watts per channel, and local and remote source inputs are standard, with optional wireless Bluetooth connectivity. The Remote Input Module (RIM) features a routed IR emitter jack for remotely controlling existing source equipment from any room that has a volume control.
The Hi-Fi 2 4x4 unit uses the same volume source control, RIM and optional Bluetooth RIM as the larger Hi-Fi 2 8x8. The new version comes complete with the Hi-Fi 2 4x4 amplifier, four volume source controls, two remote input modules, a remote control and a power supply.
The system can be controlled via the included remote control or by free Android or iPhone apps. HAI president Jay McLellan says an Extra Vegetables driver for use with a Control4 home control system has been written.
The distribution unit fits directly into a Leviton Structured Media Center wiring enclosure at half-width. Color change kits are also available for the wall-mounted volume source control and remote input modules.
A Connected HAI Dock for iDevices can serve as a source and music library, and adding HAI’s Music Gateway stores thousands of songs, allows three independent audio channels and enables seeing music info, metadata and album art on a touchscreen or iPhone/iPad/touch.
The HiFi 2 4x4 should be available in the fourth quarter.
