Fiona is Another Virtual Assistant Looking for Kickstarter Love
The high-tech crowdfunding campaign will run through Saturday, July 27, 2013.
Just yesterday, we were talking up ivee Sleek and its Kickstarter quest to become a real product. Now, another voice-controlled assistant has come to our attention. Say hello to Fiona.
Fiona is the brainchild of Adele Robots, a Spanish startup that’s focused on social robotics.
The idea behind Fiona is very similar to other products that we’ve seen. It allows users to tap into all sorts of home automation functions via the power of voice. However, the hook on Fiona is that “she” has an interface that makes you feel like you’re talking to an actual person.
It may seem a little creepy at first, but also insanely cool. Fiona can answer questions, make calls, play music, open the garage, and much more. She has an open source artificial intelligence platform and lives inside a handheld that looks like an ordinary tablet. That device can be wall-mounted or placed on a tabletop, where she’s always on and doesn’t require any type of monthly fees.
If you want to see Fiona come to life, you can pledge to her Kickstarter campaign, which runs through Saturday, July 27, 2013. Adele Robots wants to use the funding to finish up Fiona, which includes tweaking the voice recognition, adding third-party devices, and more. Backers can pledge any amount, but there is an “Early Adopter Package,” which will get you one Fiona for $169.
Check out what Fiona can do now in the video below or visit the product’s Kickstarter page for more info.
