We often talk about elite or high-performance—or very expensive—audio products (or other luxury goods) as being “the Ferrari of this” or “the Ferrari of that,” like loudspeakers, for instance. Well, we can officially say we’ve found the Ferrari of the AirPlay-enabled all-in-one speaker docks.

Not that we’ve heard how it sounds yet to compare with others ... nor does it carry a price tag that is on par with what we’d lump into that “Ferrari of” category. But the new FS1 Air speaker dock can officially lay claim as the only such product that actually bears the Ferrari logo because it is made by Ferrari by Logic3.

So with that, you could say this one’s got horsepower in the form of the sports car world’s Italian stallion. It’s an officially licensed Ferrari product, the way that a brand might carry some extra weight like those products that are “Made for iPhone.”

It has the famed colors to go with the famed logo, too, adorned in black and red with the slick curves to match. That’s no accident—the FS1 Air was designed by the Scuderia Ferrari racing team, the company says, so it produced a similar balance of the GT Car’s “innovative lines, creases and curves.” The Ferrari logo is on the glossy accompanying remote as well.

The dock itself is a 2.1-channel design that implements the company’s Class HD amplification technology and digital signal processing to control the crossover and equalization.

“We are thrilled to introduce the FS1 Air after the success of the original FS1,” says Ashvin Patel, Logic3 CEO. “We designed the FS1 Air to offer a sophisticated solution that provides a crisp and powerful audio experience.”

The FS1 Air, like its predecessor, maintains a dock so you can connect and charge your Apple portables, but in line with the rapidly growing speaker category its hook is that you can also play your tunes wirelessly through its AirPlay and Bluetooth support. So you can have your iTunes plus your Windows/Android devices’ music to fill a room without wiring hassles.

In line with products such as B&W’s Zeppelin Air, the FS1 Air is available for $649.
