Digeo Updates Moxi HD DVR to the Max

New features on the $799 Moxi HD DVR include access to Hulu, YouTube, Netflix, Rhapsody, Flickr Mosaic and your networked PC.

Digeo isn’t shy about claiming that its Moxi HD DVR is “The World’s Best DVR” high up on its website.

A recent Electronic House survey found that out of nearly 450 people 64 percent still think TiVo is tops, but we’ve got to say that today’s enhancements announced for the Moxi make it pretty darn attractive.

Digeo detailed a slew of additional features and services for the Moxi, which retails from partner Amazon for $799—pricey, sure, but remember there are no added subscription fees—that make it a well-connected product in your entertainment setup.

Foremost is access to media server software provider PlayOn, an upstart that lets you view web videos from YouTube, Hulu, CBS, Netflix, CNN, ESPN and others through the Moxi via a networked PC.

Regular YouTube videos may not look great on a big screen HDTV, but the site recently added HD functionality, and we know Hulu and Netflix include some HD videos and are becoming seemingly omnipresent.

If music’s your thing, Moxi will also be able to stream Rhapsody and its on-demand music library of more than 7 million tunes. You can have a free month-long trial to play around with this one.

Other new features include:

• Media Link to support DLNA home networking standard, connecting your TV or A/V system to networked PCs to stream even more media
• eControls to manage other home systems such as Z-Wave-certified lighting products, IP-enabled cameras and more from the Moxi menu
• Mosaic, a browsing feature on the Flickr web photo sharing service
• MoxiNet, to bookmark websites at Moxi.com and easily browse them by using the Moxi remote as a virtual mouse.

The World’s Best DVR? The jury’s still out on that, but Digeo’s certainly adding to Moxi’s robustness and smartly hopping on the latest streaming bandwagon.
