Denon Debuts Networked Audio Systems

Products in Denon’s S Series have built-in Wi-Fi as well as a CD player, iPod dock, digital radio and alarm clock.

The new S-Series taps into the iPod, networked music, XM and Real's Rhapsody service.

Denon wants to put the S in streaming—with its first networked audio line, dubbed the S-Series.

Two S products were announced today: the S-52 ($699) and the S-32 ($499). Both have Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), and both are compatible with the Rhapsody music service. If you don’t feel like flipping 13 bucks a month for Rhapsody (after the 30-day free trial), you can use the S’ wireless superpowers to tap into any network-attached storage device, Mac or PC.

Each S unit is also XM Satellie Radio-ready and includes an integrated iPod dock.

As far as formats, both devices have the ability to decode MP3 and WMA formats as well as AAC, WAV and those encoded in FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec).
