Once you start collecting digital music, it can get addictive. Most PCs can’t organize that kind of volume. CasaTools just announced a new way to handle some of those larger collections.

The CasaTunes XL Music Server features 250GB of storage. It’s not the biggest drive we’ve seen, but it should be able to hold 1,600 of your favorite albums. If that’s not enough, the unit can tap into other audio sources, including an iPod, iPhone, XM or Sirius, and SHOUTcast web radio. Users can also add a second hard drive, via an available slot.

Pre-loaded with CasaTunes software, the unit features an easy-to-use touchscreen. Answer a few simple questions, add an amp (or two) and speakers, and you are ready to rock.

The CasaTunes XLi Music Server ships with four built-in internal music sources and one external source for up to six rooms of music listening. The XLe has five built-in sources and four external for 12 rooms; it’s also scalable to four external boxes for 48 rooms filled with music.

All of the server products are shipping now, with a starting price of $1,499.
