Canton Cube Cranks Theater-Quality Sound
The Movie 80 CX features four identical high gloss black or silver finished mini-satellites, a center channel, and a subwoofer.
The latest in the Movie line offers home theater sound in a small package.
Call us a bunch of squares if you want, but Canton’s Cube speakers are pretty dreamy.
The Movie 80 CX and Movie 120 MX are the latest in the Movie product line. Both have four compact satellite speakers that can crank 5.1-channel sound without hogging home theater space—which can often be at a premium.
Canton says the speakers were designed to match the big boys, but on a smaller scale. That way, you can still blow hair off your head without having to drop down to a smaller sized couch.
The cubes for the Movie 80 CX ($699) each measure 3.5 inches square and 4 inches deep. Inside you’ll find a 3-inch polypropylene woofer, and a coaxially-mounted 1-inch aluminum tweeter. The 100-watt subwoofer uses a 6-inch long-throw cellulose/graphite driver for bass down to 38Hz.
The Movie 120 MX ($899) units are an inch higher, which promises better output in the midrange and mid-bass frequencies. It also has a slightly larger subwoofer, which can boom bass down to 33Hz.
Both of the new Movie systems are shipping now.
