Back in May, there were rumblings about the Belkin ScreenCast TV Adapter. Now, the company has officially announced the product, which allows users to stream audio and video from any WiDi-enabled laptop to any HDTV with an HDMI port.

The real hook, however, isn’t just that the ScreenCast can stream the content. It actually claims to deliver 1080p, as well as Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound. It also means no more crowding around the laptop to catch up on TV shows, check out photos and home videos, or watch a Blu-ray on the go.

Just hook the small ScreenCast to your HDTV’s vacant HDMI port using the included HDMI cable. From there, the process is basically as simple as the push of a button.

Belkin says that the product uses dual-band wireless and HDMI technology, for the best audio and video possible. Also, because it uses WiDi, it enables a second display on for Intel Wireless Display-ready computers. That basically means that you can project from your laptop to your HDTV, all while surfing through something else online.

Expect Belkin to start selling the ScreenCast sometime in mid-July. The company has listed the MSRP as $129.
