Bedroom Theater at a Touch

Hidden electronics, including a 42-inch plasma, XM radio and Kaleidescape server allow these homeowners to enjoy technology without the clutter.

Design and simplicity were the inspirations behind this whole-house installation in Indiana. Involved in the project during construction, Tri-Phase Technologies was able to install a framing system behind the fireplace in this roomy master bedroom suite—to support both the 42-inch Runco TV and the VisionArt masking system that hides the TV when it’s not in use. At the buzzer of the Pacers’ game, or when the movie has ended for the night, the VisionArt rolls a canvas of water lilies over the screen to complement the lilies in the home’s backyard lake.

The room may look electronics free, but the homeowners have access to all their entertainment at the touch of a button on the RTI remote control. XM Radio, AM/FM, CD, iPod, high-def cable and any DVD stored on the household Kaleidescape server can come in through Klipsch in-ceiling speakers and the Runco display.

“They love that they can start a movie in another part of the house, and when they get sleepy, they can put it on pause and pick up where it left off in the bedroom,” says Tom Wilburn, Tri-Phase sales manager.
