AT&T has been taunting us with plans to introduce AT&T Digital Life to consumers across the country. Now the company is delivering on its promise, launching in 15 U.S. markets.

AT&T Digital Life offers home automation packages with options for security, temperature control, and more, for both in and outside of the home.

The company also just announced plans to add Yale Locks & Hardware into the mix. That basically means that Yale Real Living electronic deadbolts will work remotely with the Digital Life system. Both touchscreen and push-button keypad models are currently available.

The initial launch includes Atlanta, Austin, Boulder, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, Riverside, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis and select areas of the New York and New Jersey metropolitan area. The company will keep spreading the word about automation, as well as its services. By the end of this year, AT&T plans to make Digital Life services available in up to 50 markets.

Digital Life makes its automated home features available from most smartphones, tablets and PCs.  It includes 24/7 professional monitoring with alerts, as well as the AT&T Digital Life app for control over cameras, door locks, lights, thermostats, small appliances and more.

“We know how important security is to our customers, and this was our top priority when we set out to build Digital Life,” said Kevin Petersen, senior vice president of AT&T Digital Life. “People rely on their mobile devices more than ever, so Digital Life offers an easy and convenient way to secure their homes, protect their families and simplify their lives from virtually anywhere.”

AT&T Digital Life offers a Simple Security package, which includes 24/7 home monitoring, 24-hour battery backup, a wireless keypad, a keychain remote, recessed sensors and an indoor siren. That will cost you $29.99 a month, plus $149.99 for equipment and installation. The Smart Security plan includes all of the Simple stuff, plus the option to choose three features from a list that includes motion sensors, carbon monoxide sensors, glass break sensors, smoke sensors and a takeover kit. That plan starts at $39.99 a month, with $249.99 for equipment and installation. Add-on packages with cameras, energy monitoring, door locks, and water control are also available.
