With most Americans tightening their wallets during a recession, electronics stores are feeling the pinch.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) lowered its Q4 growth forecast from 3.5 percent to a non-existent 0.1 percent, and online holiday sales slipped, according to comScore.

But there’s a theory that says that, when we’re not spending as much money going out on the town, we’ll spend it on better gear at home. We want to have a great time, so we’ll spend the money on something we’ll use over and over again.

Maybe you signed up for Netflix, invested in a better HDTV or bought a new Blu-ray player. But is this theory actually true in reality?

So, we want to know: are you buying more home entertainment in a recession?

Answer the poll below, then let us know why in a comment.
