Amped Wireless Debuts 802.11ac Range Extender
The REA20 promises to boost Wi-Fi signals up to 10,000 square feet.
Having Wi-Fi access is really convenient. Having it in only one portion of the house is just sort of a tease. Amped Wireless wants to deliver that wireless signal whenever you need it, so they have debuted another interesting product designed to work with 802.11ac technology.
The newly announced REA20 High Power 700mW Dual Band AC Wi-Fi Range Extender is the company’s flagship for that category. It’s designed to repeat, amplify and rebroadcast signals from just about any 802.11a/b/g/n or ac Wi-Fi router—up to 10,000 square feet.
The REA20 has three high-gain antennas and 10 power amplifiers, which includes two 2.4GHz amplifiers, four 5.0GHz 2-stage amplifiers, and four low-noise amplifiers. The end result boasts downloads and streaming HD or 4K media without delays.
Other features include a USB port, five gigabit wired ports, and Wi-Fi Analytic Tool Apps. It also has security features, including guest networks, adjustable Wi-Fi coverage controls, user access controls, and more.
“By combining our award-winning high power technology and range extender software with the horsepower of 802.11ac, we are able to provide ultra-fast Wi-Fi speeds over great distances,” says Jason Owen, CEO of Amped Wireless. “The problem with 802.11ac is it operates on the 5GHz Wi-Fi band which has shorter range. With the REA20 we are able to boost 2.4 and 5.0GHz performance to cover an entire office, home or backyard and provide the speed and performance associated with 802.11ac for environments with multiple devices such as, televisions, game consoles, tablets and smart phones, all at the same time.”
Amped Wireless is selling the REA20 now, with an MSRP of $199.99.
