Amazon MP3 Store Adds DRM-Free Warner Music

Amazon.com’s MP3 store downloads are DRM-free

Warner Music is the third of the four major record label corporations to offer its digital downloads without digital rights management restrictions.

Chalk up another win for the anti-digital rights management campaign. Warner Music is the latest recording label to allow DRM-free digital downloads, as its catalog will be available in that manner on Amazon.com’s MP3 store.

Warner follows EMI Group and Universal Music Group as labels that have shed the DRM from their download offerings, leaving Sony BMG as the holdout among the four major music corporations.

Amazon’s store has been a chief proponent of DRM-free music, as all of its downloads are without restriction, something the company prominently boasts on the store logo—that your downloads will play well with Windows Media Player and iTunes.

Like other songs, Warner’s should go for the standard 89 and 99 cents for individual downloads.
