Seniors love technology, too. However, some of those teeny tiny devices aren’t so good on aging eyes—and don’t have all of the features that someone older may need.

Watching grandma play Angry Birds may be entertaining, but something like the Sonamba can provide more peace of mind.

Designed by pomdevices, the 7-inch Sonamba touchscreen allows seniors to send and receive messages, but also includes activity sensors and other features allowing friends and family to check in on that loved one.

Sonamba can also be set up to send email and text alerts, and has optional 24/7 Personal Emergency Response Call Center services. There’s also Home and Away buttons right on the device and a Panic button that can be detached and mounted on the wall or worn around the wrist.

Other features allow Sonamba users to share photos, take notes, create calendar reminders, and even play games (probably not Angry Birds, though). Also, if grandma owns an iPhone, the Sonamba does have a compatible iOS app.

The Sonamba touchpanel will run you about $549.99, and is currently available on Amazon. The company also sells additional Sonamba sensors, and service plans that start at $39 per month.
