The amount of video you can watch on your PC is pretty mind-boggling these days. The options to bring it to your TV are growing pretty quickly too.

If you’re someone who likes to beta test software, and you’re a fan of web video, you might want to give PlayOn a try. It should probably be called PlayMore instead, because what it lets you do is watch streaming video from the likes of Hulu, YouTube, ESPN and CBS sites on your PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and HP MediaSmart TV.

The software bringing info from the RSS feed over your home network, and works if you are a Microsoft Windows XP or Vista user.

As if you couldn’t have spent countless mind-numbing hours with your PS3 or Xbox already. The software will also include Netflix compatibility soon, the company notes, as well as its availability for Nintendo’s Wii by the end of the year.

The guys at CNET had a chance to play around with PlayOn after its release yesterday, and report that navigating the video searches was pretty easy, though the Hulu seemed to be limited to TV shows only and not the movie selection. Also, video looked adequate for web streaming, but had some lag issues at times. They also noted that apparently you’ll need to shell out $30 for the software after a 60-day trial period is up.

You might have some eye strain going from crystal-clear Blu-ray to pixelated YouTube vids on your PS3, but you’ll never want to get off the couch.
