The curved design of Planar’s new projectors could easily entice. Maybe we’re suckers for all things big and shiny…

However, the specs of the PD8150 and PD8130 certainly don’t disappoint either. The PD8150 ($8,999) boasts a DLP engine with Dynamic Black. Other specs include a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution, a 15,000:1 contrast ratio, 1,000 Max lumens, two lens options, a horizontal and vertical lens shift, and HDMI 1.3 support.

The PD8130 has many of the same features. However, it’s $2,000 less—and the contrast ratio is 10,000:1. It also has the DLP engine with VXP video.

Both also feature that piano black finish that you always check out your hair in. Both units are available now.
