Pioneer’s Phoenix store will feature six lifestyle vignettes
November 14, 2008 by Arlen Schweiger

It might not be the best time for consumer electronics retailers these days, but on the manufacturer side, at least one new store is opening in time for the holidays. Pioneer Electronics has opened its second U.S. storefront, in the CityCenter of CityNorth in Phoenix.

Like the initial store Pioneer opened two years ago in Orange County, CA, the Phoenix location is part of an upscale shopping center where those Kuro Elites should fit in just fine. The newly opened CityCenter will even be adding Phoenix’s first Nordstrom in 2010, and there are plans for two hotels and 1,000 condos to go with the area.

The 3,200 square-foot store will try to highlight Pioneer’s products in home environment settings—there are six lifestyle vignettes, each with a unique theme and different technologies so consumers can relate to how the company’s products might look in their own homes.

Some of the products that will be showcased:

  • Kuro flat-panel displays, monitors and projectors
  • Blu-ray disc players
  • Elite line of speakers and other home theater products
  • Premier line of in-car products such as AVIC-F Series navigation systems, subwoofers, speakers, amplifiers and stereos
  • Exclusive products currently only available in Japan, including Pure Malt Speakers and headphones.

For even more eye candy, there’s a souped-up Scion xD demo car created by installer Chris Yato of Elite Creations, Corona, CA, who was named top installer by Mobile Electronics Magazine four times.

All in all, Pioneer says there are about six miles’ worth of A/V cables in the store to pull together the entire experience.
