Earlier this month, we were talking up our favorite home theater apps. One of those apps was Peel—and the accompanying hardware (also known as “fruit”) is now available.
When paired with the free iPhone app, the Peel universal control can learn all of your favorite programs and make suggestions tailored to your tastes.
That means there is absolutely no hiding your horrible taste in TV. Like Food Network’s Ace of Cakes? Peel might recommend Cake Boss on TLC. Into the drama of CSI? Peel will probably recommend, well… all of the other CSIs. However, there’s no need to flip through hundreds of channels; Peel will find a nice selection for you.
Peel’s fruit is designed to sit in between you and your A/V setup, allowing control over the TV, cable box, Blu-ray player, or any other component. The pear-like piece of this puzzle promises wireless control from anywhere in the house, meaning you don’t have to point and shoot to change channels or find additional programming.
Aside from viewing suggestions, Peel promises an easy setup without cords, dongles and cables. All that’s needed is a single C battery (and a portable device, of course).
The Peel universal control is now available at Apple Stores nationwide. The app is also available, for free, for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.
