Both next-gen DVD formats Blu-ray and HD DVD show amazing pictures. That much we know. Now we just want to know what pictures they will be showing—what movies will each (or both) churn out, and that means content.

In the latest move of the high-def DVD format news, Paramount Pictures and DreamWorks Animation SKG have announced that they’ll exclusively support HD DVD.

In that regard, all movies distributed by Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Pictures, Paramount Vantage, Nickelodeon Movies and MTV Films, as well as movies from DreamWorks Animation are included.

Heading the list of exclusive titles to be released on HD DVD by this group will be the Will Ferrell vehicle “Blades of Glory” on Aug. 28, followed by “Transformers” and “Shrek the Third”.

It’s been noted that films directed by Steven Spielberg are not exclusive to either format, however.
