Paradigm’s Monitor Series v.6
August 06, 2008 | by Arlen Schweiger

Paradigm’s Monitor Series loudspeakers already sound pretty darn good. Now the Canadian company went ahead and gave it bit of a design makeover, too, just when you thought the Monitors couldn’t get any better.

This is v.6—the sixth version of Paradigm’s Monitor Series. The new magnetic grilles now have ultra-low diffraction, and they stay perfectly centered over the baffles unless they’re removed, thanks to redesigned and reinforced placement of the magnets keeping them on.

Other exterior improvements include nickel-plated screws added to all bookshelf, floorstanding and center-channel speakers in the lineup, giving that extra detail. They also now come in wenge finish that’s popular with contemporary decors, so if you need something other than black, cherry or rosenut you can go with this blackish-brown flavor.

Modified phase-coherent crossovers, plus an updated voice coil for the Titan Monitor bookshelf speaker, enhance the insides to go with technology maintained from v.5 such as SuperDrive, which yields the series’ high output, high efficiency and ultra-low distortion.

Here’s the whole lineup:

  • Atom Monitor – Two-driver 2-way bookshelf/stand-mounted: 5-1/2” M-ICP mid/bass, 1” H-PTD dome; $149/ea
  • Mini Monitor – Two-driver 2-way bookshelf/stand-mounted: 6-1/2” M-ICP mid/bass, 1” H-PTD dome; $219/ea

I think version 3 was the nicest looking they made.. also feel the quality went down hill after version 4.

They should of kept the perfomance series and monitor series seperate instead of combining the two series and raising prices
