OVGuide.com’s comprehensive online video search engine includes human editorial input

The world of online video can still be pretty mysterious and overwhelming to try to navigate. There are far more viewing options out there if you want to watch movies and TV shows on your computer, especially if you’ve networked your PC to your TV.

OVGuide.com wants to help you check out more than just Hulu and YouTube. The website aggregates online video sites and all the material out there, and injects some human editorial crunching within its newly revamped search engine to help pare down choices so you don’t just get clips and irrelevant links.

Earlier this week OVGuide.com unveiled its Relevis technology-driven search engine to feed its results. With the assistance of that editorial aspect, it turns back results that include category, ranking, user statistics and superiority of the site, getting you to the original content rather than other linked sites when possible.

It even adds the websites’ logos on the search results, so you can familiarize yourself with them and easily decide which ones you trust. OVGuide.com crawls more than 2,400 editorially-approved sites in its database, the company says, so the results are truly relevant.

Along with the search engine, certain channels are displayed on the home page, as well as top search titles and buzz words and phrases. It’s pretty easy to find “Simpsons” and other popular shows straight from there without searching, for example.

And yes, if you must know, it includes listings for movies that the kiddies definitely won’t be watching, too. But we know you’re just searching for episodes of “The Office” and “Saturday Night Live” skits, right?
