Oppo Digital is preparing its new BDP-93 Universal Network 3D Blu-ray Player, which will replace the BDP-83.
The BDP-93 will be able to play CDs, SACDs, DVD-Audio, DVD-Video, Blu-ray and 3D, as well as discs encoded with Kodak Picture CD, AVCHD, MP4, DivX, MKV, FLAC, WAV and HDCD.
Internally, the BDP-93 includes Marvell’s Kyoto-G2 video processor and latest-generation Qdeo technology to eliminate artifacts and other video noise. The player also upconverts DVD content to HD resolutions and can reproduce the 24-frame per second (fps) content that some home video titles are released in without affecting video quality.
For users who employ a CinemaScope setup, the BDP-93 offers vertical stretch processing and the ability to move subtitles into a viewable area when watching on a constant image height (CIH) screen.
Its audio capabilities include Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio processing with the ability to output these signals via analog multichannel outputs.
The BDP-93’s digital outputs feature dual HDMI outputs, including one HDMI 1.4 to support 3D content and a legacy HDMI output to facilitate the connection to receivers with earlier versions of HDMI.
Other features include:
- Optical and coax digital audio outputs
- RS-232 serial connections
- IR control
- Wireless and Ethernet network connectivity
- Dual USB inputs
Oppo is pricing the unit at $500, but no release date has been given.
